EarlySpace design projects often begin with a charette. This participatory workshop is an opportunity for parents, staff, community members and children to be included in the design process.

After the charette, the next step might be to create a Design Program. This is a written document that summarizes the ideas and goals of the project, and provides a guide for subsequent phases.

The requirements of the project are then translated into a design. The needs of the client determine the level of detail in the plans. A rendered color drawing or a model of the space can be helpful, especially if fundraising is a step in the process.
