Chapel Hill / Carrboro Head Start - Lincoln Preschool
This industrial arts building turned preschool features a welcoming entry corridor with window seats and views into the classroom. A raised platform with a trellis roof creates a cozy space and allows a view outside. The wet area features a gridded floor complete with a drain, encouraging exuberant water play.

Chapel Hill / Carrboro Head Start - Seawell Preschool

The focal point of this gymnasium turned preschool is "the castle", a two-story playhouse that divides the 15' tall space into two classrooms, provides a variety of child-sized play settings, and gives children a new perspective inside their school.

Mountain Area Child and Family Center

This custom-designed building includes porches and observation rooms off every classroom, plumbed water tables, abundant natural light and green and healthy building materials. EarlySpace collaborated with the architects and the board throughout the design process, and also designed unique lofts, raised play areas, efficient teacher work stations and custom storage for each of the 10 classrooms.

Telamon Corporation - Angier Migrant Head Start

Low windows, efficient storage and child-sized plumbing are featured in this economical modular building which was created through close collaboration between EarlySpace and the modular factory. Following the project to completion included custom play structures and carefully designed storage for each classroom, a coordinated palette of finishes, furniture and fabrics, and covered decks off each classroom leading to an outdoor play area with edibles, hammocks and meandering pathways.
